Defense contractor Raytheon Co. is promoting a minimal-cost radar technology to assist operators of drone aircraft avoid hazards in mid-air.
Aircraft Radar Technology Developed by Raytheon
Raytheon referred to the technology like a software enhancement to air-traffic control radars which have typically only been capable of seeing airspace in 2 dimensions, by latitude and longitude. The technology provides altitude information, or perhaps a third dimension, to air traffic remotes and operators of unmanned aircraft systems to allow them to securely direct aircraft, based on the organization.
Raytheon relies in Waltham. Its Network Centric Systems, which evolves networking along with other technologies for civilian and military uses, has procedures in Marlboro.
Raytheon stated today its new technology is patented.
